James R. Baldwin
James work with various large and small clients, from individuals, start-ups, and corporate clients in a diverse range of technology areas including software, electrical, and mechanical technologies. He advises on how intellectual property protection can fit into a client’s current and future business needs.
James graduated with honors from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2005 with a degree in computer engineering. Shortly after, James worked for an aerospace defense company designing electronics for life support equipment for VIP military aircraft and dive computers for rebreathers rates for 300 feet.
James graduated cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2012. James have over 12 years experience with patent and trademark prosecution and has drafted hundreds of patent applications. He has drafted applications related to, for example, hardware and software for the automotive and agricultural industry, including autonomous technology, data and backend processing, video streaming, cryptography and secure banking, machine learning and artificial intelligence, software and hardware for medical devices, hardware and software for virtual and augmented reality, network routing and packet switching, internet-of-things (IoT) devices, microprocessor design, and mechanical and pneumatic design.
James prepares and prosecutes domestic, international, and foreign patent applications. Additionally, he can help clients with non-infringement and invalidity analysis as well as other patent related matters.
James is licensed to practice in Illinois and in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
